Guatemala's Struggle

As the situation in Guatemala worsens, the government has begun to tighten up and enforce the new restrictions.  On March 14, the government announced that the following day would begin a complete shut down of any nonessential businesses. This was announced late that day, catching many by surprise.  The shut down has put thousands out of work without any source of income or food.  Shortly afterwards, travel between departments was restricted.  This trapped many people away from home because of the suddenness.  We are now under the threat of a 15 day complete shutdown with absolutely no travel allowed and no stores open.  There are many people who depend on a daily trip to the store. What will they do?  They can't do anything.  Thousands of people in this country alone are in desperate circumstances, not to mention those around the world.

We have been blessed with the ability to help many families.  We have been able to buy large bags of beans, rice, maseca (used to make tortillas), salt and other food items.  We packaged them at home and Dad passed them out.  We have also been able to give out homemade soup thanks to our adopted brother Charlie and his boss.  Lately we have had large amounts of prepackaged food to give out.  We have also had the opportunity to purchase large quantities of prepackaged food to supply a family for a week.  With each food bag or meal given out, the families also hear of the saving grace of Jesus.  God is most definitely working.  If you want to know more about the situation here or how you can help, please check out our new website at https://www.guate22.org/.
